In this focused audio editing exercise, you are to find and remove a "click" sound from the midst of an otherwise pure, sine wave.
WHAT YOU NEED: Audio editor, such as Audacity.
PROCEDURE: 1) Download the audio file (AIFF) containing a 262.5 Hz. ("middle C") sine wave. SINE WAVE IS HERE.
2) Import the audio file to the track window of your audio editor.
3) Zoom in an search for the imperfection in the waveform. The waveform is an otherwise pure sine wave, but there is one variation at the "click".
4) Remove the click by cutting the part of the waveform that interrupts the sinusoidal shape. You will be recreating a sine shape.
5) Play back the file to confirm that the click is gone.
6) Export as an MP3 file and share with your instructor and/or the class.
