Course Objectives 
<ul><li>Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of music theory, including notation, harmony, melody, part writing and composition</li><li>Students will become familiar with notation and sequencing software</li><li>Students will be introduced to simple recording devices and synthesizers</li><li>Students will be introduced to basic piano skills</li></ul> 
Course Requirements and Materials 
<ul><li>Students will come prepared for class with all materials every day</li><li>Students will respect the rules, teacher, other classmates, and the facility</li><li>Students will contribute regularly during class discussions</li></ul> 
Grading Procedures 
<ul><li>Homework (20%)</li><li>Quizzes (15%)</li><li>Projects (25%)</li><li>Unit Exams (20%)</li><li>Class Contribution (10%)</li><li>Notebook Checks (10%)</li></ul>Policies 
<ul><li>All work MUST be done in pencil.</li><li>All homework, notebooks, and projects will be due at the beginning of the period.</li><li>Late assignments will not be accepted. All work must be made up within three days of returning to school.</li><li>Extra handouts will be available in the filing cabinet.</li><li>It is the student’s responsibility to make up work. Students will have an appropriate amount of time to make up work; however, after that time, the student will be penalized for missing or late work.</li><li>All quizzes and exams need to be made up.</li></ul>
